Roy acquired a B.Sc from the University of Winnipeg in ecology and biology, in 1981.
Since graduation, he has been involved in a variety of causes, ranging from illegal poaching of wildlife in Manitoba to habitat conservation with such organizations as Ducks Unlimited, Manitoba Naturalists, and the Granby Wilderness Society. Roy also participates in a variety of environmental conferences in and around British Columbia.
Currently, Roy is involved with the Boundary Forest Watershed Stewardship Society in Grand Forks, BC and is a member of the IWTF.
